Dosbox doesn't want to 'boot' from its fake drives iirc (only the image files) and a image file prevents filesystem transparency, while reactOS documentation makes no mention of running like this. I was hoping that ReactOS+dosbox would be the answer but i have my doubts about that. A setup with at least filesystem transparency, and preferably some device passthrough (cds) like dosbox provides for DOS games, and wine for windows games (in linux), but bolted on to a emulator, but without all the archaic black box that windows 95 code that has to be appeased. I want a simple way to have a portable wine, that is wine + a cpu emulator (for example). What i'm asking for probably doesn't exist yet, but i suspect market forces or open source frustration will make sure it will: I've been using wine from ten years on, i've been using win3.11 and windows 95 installed in dosbox nearly as long, i mount games in fat32 images and use dosbox-win95 to play many of them etc. Ok, first to be clear: i'm a old hand at windows emulation.
